About the Woodie Belt Company

So who is behind the Woodie Belt Company?

The Woodie Belt Company was designed by myself (Nick Jones) to fill a gap in the accessory market for a belt that can be used everyday for casual and evening wear.

Being a self-confessed belt collector and leather accessory fan, I found the biggest problem was what to do with the excess leather or material that comes with wearing a belt. The belt loops on trousers are often not big enough to allow the excess to pass through leaving you with a large uncomfortable mass of material located on your hip bone. With this in mind I went about designing a belt which would eliminate this problem and still leave the wearer with a functional and fashionable leather accessory that you can change to suit your clothes for the day or evening.

Why 'Woodie' ?

Well the name Woodie comes from my past, I have been working with wood as a Cabinet Maker for some 18 years. I enjoy working with wood and have a vast knowledge of different types of timber from all around the world. When I came up with the idea of our Wooden belt buckle I made one, vastly different to what you buy today from us but the only way it could be described was "kind of Woody".

The spelling change came from my other passion which I have given up, Classic Cars. To be specific Classic American Cars. I have owned a few over the years and  my favorites are the 'Woodie Station wagons' from the 1940'-1960's. These had what was known as 'Woodie' paneling down both sides of the car and sometimes on the back. Unfortunately due to ever-increasing costs of vehicle ownership, I no longer have a classic car.

This is a great example of a Woodie Station Wagon, I think it's a 1951 Ford but I may be wrong.

The leather bags are made by myself to fill the gap for those who wanted one but were not prepared to pay the £200+ for a custom leather handbag. I am continuing to produce bag designs and styles and all of them combine our exotic woods and the highest quality leather.
